Photo of Susanna Frances, born April 12, 1866. She is wearing a dress and a hat and riding a bicycle around a yard. She married James Balfour and moved to Blenheim Twp. in Oxford Co. Jan. 8, 1901. She was a travelling dressmaker and rode her bicycle from one customer's home to another. She served her apprenticeship in the shop and under the supervision of Miss Lockie of Hanover. The Messner family of Formosa were among her customers where she would sew for a month in the spring and fall. See A970.015.002
